John Woodnutt, entrepreneur and inventor of electronic lighting control technology, has been awarded an MBE for services to Business and Entrepreneurship in the 2023 New Year Honours list. John pioneered lighting controls in the late 1950s and the Honour recognises his unique innovations in lighting controls and his six decades of commitment to creating smart, sustainable building solutions.

Delmatic are excited to announce three awards at the prestigious 2022 DALI Lighting Control Awards, with three winning entries across the multiple categories, with Delmatic being the only multiple award winner on the night. This demonstrates versatility providing cutting edge DALI-2 solutions across some of the worlds most iconic projects.
Delmatic’s DALI lighting management systems at the Elizabeth Line won in the Infrastructure category, while UCL Hospital won in the Healthcare and Education category and Battersea Power Station took the top award in the Retail and Hospitality category. The winning projects were selected by an international judging panel of lighting designers, lighting magazine editors, and representatives from global lighting organizations.
DALI, which stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, is a dedicated protocol for digital lighting control that enables the easy installation of robust, scalable and flexible lighting management networks. The DALI Lighting Awards are held by the DALI Alliance each year and recognises the very best use of DALI lighting control applications and solutions around the world. Delmatic’s outstanding achievement at the 2022 DALI Awards is testament to our commitment in the design and application of cutting-edge DALI-2 lighting management systems comprising DALI-qualified controllers and devices.

Battersea Power Station is at the heart of London’s largest and most visionary new development which has transformed an 8 million sq.ft former industrial site into a vibrant mixed-use destination. Delmatic’s latest IP, DALI-2 and integrated DMX systems provide smart, site-wide lighting management and monitoring across the iconic Grade II* listed building including shell and core, extensive basements, retail, leisure, residential, external spaces and public realm, as well as the iconic chimneys and panoramic lift.
University College Hospital, Grafton Way Building is a state-of-the-art hospital complex offering world-class facilities and ground–breaking radiotherapy and cancer treatments. Delmatic DALI systems extend throughout the 34,500 sq.m building and provide the flexible, energy-efficient monitoring and control of normal and emergency lighting. The judges described this as a stand-out architectural lighting project on a very large scale, with strong use of DALI technical capabilities combined with many notable creative and design features. They were impressed by the efforts to design with future-proofing and reconfigurability in mind, all enabled by DALI.
Delmatic DALI systems provide energy-efficient management and monitoring of normal and emergency lighting throughout the Elizabeth line stations as well as the network of shafts and portals. The systems comprise around 35,500 DALI assets – 30,000 DALI lamps, 3,500 DALI sensors and 2,000 DALI switches – managed and monitored by more than 1,000 DALI Buswire modules which individually address every luminaire to deliver the flexibility and versatility needed to meet the stringent and complex lighting requirements of the project. The judges praised the strong use of DALI combining with architectural lighting design elements that bring light underground and create a comfortable environment for travellers.
