Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport is one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs and the latest Pier A serves as an iconic new addition with impressive sustainable design credentials.

The new 57,500 square metre pier almost resembles a terminal spread across three floors with security filters, border controls, shops, and food and drink facilities.

Pier A will be the most sustainable at Schiphol, designed to LEED Gold standard and incorporating elements such as biomaterial, insulating glass, reusable plastic and marble rubblework tiles as well as 4000 square metres of rooftop solar panels.

The Delmatic lighting control system, incorporating latest IP DALI-2 technology, will contribute to the project’s sustainability through energy-efficient digital control and optimised occupancy and daylight-linked control of lighting and lighting levels.

The Delmatic system integrates with the BMS PC via BACnet/IP, sharing key real-time occupancy data to further increase the efficiency across the estate.
